The comparison of radio recombination-line intensities and the amount of low-frequency absorption along the same line of sight provides a unique method of obtaining information on the electrons temperature of the regions involved. This methed, when applied to high-frequency line observations in the direction of the rertnant 3C 391, suggests that the line emission originates in regions having an electron temperature T/sub e/, <400 deg K, and a most probable value of T/sub e/ =20 deg K.
