Title: Current algebra and the vector-meson-dominance model of the parity- violating nonleptonic weak decays of K mesons and of the hyperons

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., D, v. 8, no. 7, pp. 2296-2299

We point out and correct an error in Sakurai's paper on vector-meson dominance (VMD) of the parity-violating (p.v.) nonleptonic weak decays of K mesons and of the hyperons. We also clarify the conditions under which this vector-meson-dominance model can arise in the framework of the current-current theory with current algebra. In this framework we show that the assumption of a strict VMD for the p.v. decay amplitudes leads to the disastrous result of vanishing parity-conserving (p.c.) amplitude for the SIGMA /sup +/ yields n pi /sup +/ decay.
