PREPARATION OF PURE OXIDE REFRACTORIES BY SLIP CASTING

Some existing techniques of slip casting in pure alumina are reviewed and a methed evolved for the production of pure alumina ware. The experimental work has been confined to the production of small boats (6'' long x 1 1/4'' wide x 1/2'' deep). These boats were slip cast in a plaster of paris mould dried and subsequently fired at 1600 deg C in a molybdenum wound furnace. Suggestions are made for future work. (auth).
