Title: INVESTIGATION OF THE ADSORPTION OF TRIVALENT ANTIMONY FOR MANGANESE DIOXIDE

Abstract

The influence of manganese(II) ions on the colorimetrie determination of antimony was investigated. It was found that large quantities of manganese do not exert any influencc upon the accurate determination of antimony. The adsorbability of MnO/sub 2/ for antimony in relation to the concentration of the antimony solution was investigated. The adsorption represents a hyperbolic curve and obeys the Freundlich adsorption law. The adsorbability of antimony for MnO/ sub 2/ depends on time; within two hours the adsorption decreases from 80 to 30%. The highest adsorbability of the MnO/sub 2/ was found immediately after its formation. (auth)
