The Puerto Rico Nuclear Center of the University of Puerto Rico has been under contract to the Puerto Rico Water Resources Authority since 1972 to conduct site selection surveys and environmental research studies of seven coastal sites. Experience gained from these investigations will add to the knowledge about these areas, and provide useful data which will aid in the assessment of the desirability and practicability of locating power generating plants on one or more of these sites. Data are presented on the physical, chemical, and geological parameters of the Punta Verraco site, including ecological parameters of zooplankton, benthic invertebrate and fish communities, and plant associations.
