The preparation of aluminum oxide replicas by means of standard metallurgical equipment is described. The aluminum-pressing technique, based on principles of coining, was modified to permit two-sided as well as multiple replication. Essentially nondestructive, the method is applicable to a wide range of materials under varying surface conditions. Some results are presented. (auth)
