FEASIBILITY OF BRAZING HIGH-STRENGTH SHEET TITANIUM

Fluxless brazing of commercially pure titanium and the all- beta titanium alloy B-12OVCA (Ti-13V-11Cr-3A1) is examined. A limited number of lap joints were induction brazed inside a bell jar, using argon at reduced pressure for protection during the heating cycle. The results obtained indicated that load-carrying ability of the joints increases with the length of overlap and with the strengh of the base metal. Aging after brazing increases the joint strength by increasing the strength of the base metal. (auth)
