The level structures of $sup 51$Mn and $sup 53$Mn have been studied using our 100-cm broad range magnetic spectrograph and the $sup 54$Fe(p,$alpha$$)$$sup 51$Mn and $sup 56$Fe(p,$alpha$$)$$sup 53$Mn reactions. Precise level energies in $sup 51$Mn have been measured up to the region of 4 MeV in excitation. Thirty-four states have been identified in this region of excitation, 10 of which have not previously been reported. The uncertainty in energy of the third excited state at 1488.9 keV has been reduced from 10 keV to 0.8 keV. We confirm the new levels at 2893 and 3049 proposed in a recent $sup 50$Cr(p,$gamma$$)$$sup 51$Mn experiment, but do not observe levels at 2488, 2660, 2717, and 2808 reported in an earlier $sup 50$Cr(p,$gamma$) experiment. Using the $sup 56$Fe(p,$alpha$$)$$sup 53$Mn reaction, we have found 28 previously unreported levels in the region up to 5.1 MeV in excitation. We confirm the existence of four of the five high spin states recently reported in $sup 50$Cr($alpha$,p$gamma$$)$$sup 53$Mn work at 2563.7, 2693.5, 2697.3, 3425.6, and 3440.5 keV. We were unable to resolve the 3.8-keV doublet at 2694 keV. We do not observe levels at 1940, 2448.1, 2761.0, 2967.3, and 2978.1 keV which have been proposed or observed in previous $sup 52$Cr(p,$gamma$) studies. In addition we did not observe the levels reported at 2370 and 3061 keV in previous $sup 52$Cr($sup 3$He,d)$sup 53$Mn experiments. Our $sup 52$Cr($sup 3$He,d)$sup 53$Mn and $sup 52$Cr($sup 3$He,d$gamma$) $sup 53$Mn measurements do not show these levels. (AIP)
