Title: ON THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SYSTEM CaO-MgO-Al$sub 2$O$sub 3$-ZrO$sub 2$ (in Ukrainian)

Abstract

Co-existent phases were determined; the system CaO-hedrons and their relative volumes v/sub i/ were calculated. Quaternary compounds were not found in the system. In the pseudobinary subsystem CaZrO/sub 3/--MgAl/sub 2/O/sub 4/ the eutectic melts at 1920 deg K with an MgAl/sub 2/O/sub 4/ content about 40 p C by weight and in the subsystem MgO--Ca/sub 7/Al/sub 6/ZrO/sub 18/ at 1730 deg K with an MgO content about 15 p C by weight. The eutectic in system quaternary eutectic melts approximately at 1600 deg K (determined by calculation) and is located near the ternary eutectic of the system CaO--MgO--Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/. Taking into consideration the decrease in the concentration area containing not more than 10 p C of the melt with the temperature, the investigated system has great advantages over the systems CaO--- TiO/sub 2/, but it also contains only 3 p C of this area at 2273 deg K, which makes the system CaO--MgO--Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/ --ZrO/sub 2/ useful only for obtaining materials with a moderate temperature of usage.
