Title: NUCLEAR POLARISATION FOLLOWING PHOTOPRODUCTION OF PIONS FROM NUCLEI. PART II

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B

It is shown that the polarization of the outgoing nucleon in processes like gamma + /sup 29/Si/sub 14/ /sup 28/Si/sub 14/ + p + pi /sup -/ or gamma + /sup 13/C/sub 6/ yields /sup 12/C/sub 6/ + p + pi /sup -/ is sensitive to the quenching of the nucleon magnetic moment in the initial bound state. The nucleon polarization in such processes is not only independent of the initial wave function of the nucleon but also independent of the presence of other nucleons in j-j or L-S or intermediate coupling, except for their effect in modifying the extent of quenching and possibly introducing multiple scattering corrections.
