The methods used in the study of iron metabolism and the curves obtained are analyzed. The techniques used are described in detail. The role played by the production and destruction of the red cells in the mechanism of anemias studied is emphasized. Conclusions reached on idiopathic acquired hemolytic anemia, congenital hemolytic anemia, pancytopenic cases, and paroxismal nocturnal hemoglobinuria are discussed in some detail. (auth)
