Reliability-based design methodology for TLP design

An extensive review has been performed of the Conoco Model Code Project reliability-based design code for global performance design of TLPs. This review was sponsored by the American Petroleum Institute, and has been widely reviewed and discussed by API committees. The Model Code Project has succeeded in applying reliability methods to complex floating systems design. The project has identified critical areas needing further development, and has provided direction for what may be a useful extension to traditional reliability methods. Recent trends and developments in TLP design are commented upon as they relate to the Model Code Project results.
