Title: Data management system: User`s guide

Abstract

Data Management System (DMS) is a menu-driven, user-friendly system that allows you to manipulate software and data files as follows: Download files and software from the network to your personal computer; Compress files into a single archive file; Decompress files from an archive file; Remove files from your PC; Copy files from the source directory to the destination directory; and Configure DMS for your specific PC and network configuration. This user`s guide provides instructions for operating the system and setup configuration.

  • The FFTF Plant Operational Data Management (PODM) System provides capabilities for storing, managing and retrieving data recorded by FFTF plant computers [the Plant Data System (PDS), in particular]. The PODM system is currently implemented on SUN{sup TM} Workstations{sup (R)}. This guide contains a description of the PODM System, and instructions for using programs available for retrieving and processing FFTF data stored in the data base. Section 2.0 provides a brief overview and the background of the system. The organization and content of the data base are described in more detail in Sections 3.0 and 4.0. Available computer programs are describedmore » in sections 5.0 and 6.0 while subroutines that can be called by a user`s FORTRAN program are described in section 7.0.« less
  • SeedCalc, a decision-support system designed for use on personal computers, evaluates the consequences of different pest management strategies in slash pine (Pinus elliotti Engelm. var. elliottii) seed orchards. This interactive program allows managers to enter orchard survey data and manipulate pesticides applied, application equipment costs, insect damage rates, strobilus development rates and beginning population, and pesticide efficacy rates to develop a pest management program that best fits their needs. This guide provides user instructions for SeedCalc, presents screen and printer examples, and describes the structure, assumptions, default values and flow charts of the system.
  • A data storage and recovery system was devised to allow the rapid collation and presentation of large quantities of data in three usable forms: a listing of all data on each experiment, a listing of preselected data, and a plot of any set of data points. The system employs a punch card data storage system, a card sorter, and a FORTRAN computer program. 7 figures.
  • The Reserves Information Gathering System, hereafter referred to as RIGS, is an advanced electronic data entry product developed by the Department of Energy as a more efficient, accurate, and timely alternative for submission of Form EIA-23, ``Annual Survey of Domestic Oil and Gas Reserves`` to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). The benefits of filing Form EIA-23 using RIGS software are multiple. RIGS will significantly reduce your reporting burden by: Eliminating paperwork; providing on-line correction and edit features; automatically prompting for field footnotes; reducing follow-up calls; establishing an historical database for future filings. Error messages are designed to prevent inadvertent entries, more » and help screens and messages answer most on-line questions that may arise. Company and state/subdivision totals can be automatically generated, and print functions are available to produce hard copy of an individual group, and/or total fields reported.« less
  • With EPRI support, a model was developed by Battelle-Columbus for screening and selecting demand-side management (DSM) technologies and implementation methods using numerical ratings and weighted scores. A review of this model and upgrade of its documentation was recently completed by Polydyne, Inc. This revised Users Guide reflects this new documentation. The model is implemented using a macro-driven Lotus{reg_sign} spreadsheet template, DSMRank, which is documented in this report. DSMRank ranks and summarizes end-use technology options and implementation methods according to utility benefit/cost ratio, customer market benefits, and DSM program benefits. It extends the intuitive selection approach described in Demand-Side Management, Volumemore » 2, Evaluation of Alternatives and Volume 3, Technology Alternatives and Market Implementation Methods (EA/EM-3597) by using numerical ratings in lieu of shaded circles in the overview and functional matrices. DSMRank stores the technology options and implementation methods in spreadsheet matrices and facilitates a computerized screening and selection of DSM options, including editing and printing of data and results.« less
