Plasma MHD electrical power generation: Status and prospectus

This paper briefly reviews the development of plasma MHD power generation from the early ideas and experiments of Faraday, though the engineering work in the late 1930`s by Karlovitz, through expanded work aimed at power generation on practical scales. On going work is summarized, as well as prospects and proposals for future development efforts.
