Measurements of dry deposition at multiple sites around Lake Michigan were made to investigate the variation in atmospheric dry deposition around the lake. Dry deposition samples were collected at Empire Village, MI, South Haven, MI, Chicago, IL and on drinking water intake cribs located approximately four kilometers off-shore at Chicago with a deposition plate and an automatic dry deposition sampler. Average measured particle mass, nitrate, sulfate, and trace metal (Al, Cu, Fe, Pb, and Zn) fluxes measured in Chicago were higher than at the other sites. The normalized concentration ratio of nitrate, sulfate, and trace metals on the deposition plate also varied between sampling sites.
