Summary: Working group on weak decays and the physics of the CKM matrix
- California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA (United States)
The success of the Standard Model of electroweak interactions poses an interesting experimental problem. In order further to probe the model, especially the hadronic sector, it is necessary to improve both experimental measurements and theoretical predictions. In particular, one must ask whether it is indeed feasible to improve their knowledge of experimental quantities and the theoretical framework sufficiently to allow consistency TESTING of the Standard Model to be made. In this context, the Snowmass Working Group looked at weak decays and the physics of the CKM matrix. The current status and prospects over the next decade for improvements in the measurements of CKM matrix elements are reviewed in more detail.
