Title: [PPN][Fe{sub 3}(CO){sub 9}(C{triple_bond}CH)] and [Fe{sub 3}(CO){sub 9}(C{triple_bond}COTi(THF){sub 4}Cl)] from the reaction of low-valent titanium with [Fe{sub 3}(CO){sub 9}(CCO)]{sup 2{minus}}

Abstract

TiCl{sub 3}(DME){sub 1.5} (DME = 1,2-dimethoxyethane) and a Zn-Cu couple react with [PPN]{sub 2}[Fe{sub 3}(CO){sub 9}(CCO)] to give the new compound [PPN][Fe{sub 3}(CO){sub 9}(C{triple_bond}CH)] (1) (70% yield), a known compound [Fe{sub 3}(CO){sub 10}(CCH{sub 2})] (2) (9% yield), and another new compound [Fe{sub 3}(CO){sub 9}(CCOTi(THF){sub 4}Cl)] (3). Compound 1 was characterized by {sup 1}H and {sup 13}C NMR, IR, mass spectrometry, and X-ray crystallography. Compound 3 was characterized by IR, mass spectrometry, {sup 13}C NMR, and X-ray crystallography.
