Funded activities at the Center for Advanced Materials. Final report, June 1986-December 1994
The Gas Research Institute (GRI) has recognized an opportunity for improving gas-fired industrial processes through the application of advanced high-temperature materials. Through a competitive proposal process, GRI selected the Center for Advanced Materials (CAM) at The Pennsylvania State University in 1986 to establish a focused activity in advanced high-temperature materials research and development for application in the natural gas-related industries. The Center`s major roles were to serve as bridge between the advanced materials supplies community and user industries, and to act as a mediator and performer in longer-term, high temperature materials research and development. The results of GRI-funded projecs at the Center have been widely disseminated through Quarterly, Annual, and Topical Reports to GRI and its clientelle, through external publications in peer-reviewed scientific, technical, and industrial-related journals, as well as through technical presentations in a broad range of scientific and technical meetings internationally. The report is a final summary of the Center`s major accomplishments for the period 1986-1994; a comprehensive list of publications resulting from GRI-funded research at CAM is included in the appendix to the report.
