In this contribution we discuss current theoretical expectations for the properties of light meson {open_quote}{open_quote}exotica{close_quote}{close_quote}, which are meson resonances outside the {ital q{bar q}} quark model. Specifically we discuss expectations for gluconic hadrons (glueballs and hybrids) and multiquark systems (molecules). Experimental candidates for these states are summarized, and the relevance of a TCF to these studies is stressed. {copyright} {ital 1996 American Institute of Physics.}
