Project Justification and Return on Investment (ROI) - reality checks all automation projects, especially GIS-AM/FM projects, are subject to before any utility company will invest millions of dollars to implement. Realizing that conversion costs contribute to a significant portion of any GIS-AM/FM engagement, and likewise to its costs justification, Central & South West (CSW) has taken a non-traditional approach to the implementation of its GIS-AM/FM system. Since most of the benefits (ROI) are realized on the FM side of the GIS-AM/FM equation, CSW has focused facility conversion and attribution efforts specifically to those features which maximize, contribute to, and support the Facilities Management engineering requirements.
