Kentucky Utilities (KU) is pursuing a sophisticated strategy to provide an integrated Distribution Operations System. The program, with Automated Mapping/Facilities Management (AM/FM) as an underlying technology, will deliver Trouble Order Entry/Analysis (TOE/A), Work Management System (WMS), and interfaces/integration with other Information Technology systems. The utility is pursuing this integrated technology to remain a low-cost provider and improve trouble outage management and service quality, while it continues to meet customer growth and industry challenges of the 1990s. This paper describes the TOE/A system that is being implemented at Kentucky Utilities. The system is being integrated with the utility`s AM/FM and Work Management systems. The TOE/A system automatically receives input from Call Entry and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. With the system, KU dispatchers will be able to automatically determine outage device(s), manage trouble crews, and provide status to customers.
