Influence of macroscopic distribution of components in Ni-V-Sb/{gamma}-Al{sub 2}O{sub 3} granule of catalyst on its activity in oxidative dehydrogenation of n-butane

X-ray phase analysis (XPA), electron scanning microscopy (ESM) and a kinetic method have been used to analyse the relation between the distribution of active components in an Ni-V-Sb/{gamma}-Al{sub 2}O{sub 3} catalyst granule, controlled by means of preliminary treatment of the support, and the kinetic parameters of single-stage ox idative dehydrogenation of n-butane to divinyl. A semi-empirical kinetic model is proposed, satisfactorily describing the process in the region of reduced oxygen concentrations, irrespective of the method of catalyst synthesis. A hypothesis is put forward concerning the multicentre mechanism of the reaction. 18 refs., 4 figs., 4 tabs.
