Two years` successful operation of a hot gas filter in the Rheinbraun High Temperature Winkler coal gasification demonstration plant
- Rheinbraun AG, Huerth (Germany)
Rheinbraun has developed the High Temperature Winkler (HTW) gasification process. Since 1986 Rheinbraun has been operating a HTW demonstration plant as an industrial scale lignite gasification facility for the production of synthesis gas, which is used for methanol production. This process, when applied in large IGCC installations offers high efficiencies of power production combined with low emissions. The KoBra technology, that means a combined cycle power station with integrated HTW-lignite gasification is feasible from the technical point of view and will get the permit as was shown by the licensing procedure for a KoBra-demonstration plant (312 MWe). But implementation of this technology is only justifiable, if this attractive and promising technology is competitive by comparison with other variants of electricity production. Most of the investigations in this KoBra R+D program are carried out in the HTW-demonstration plant. One of the major investigation items is the operation and optimization of a hot gas filter for the dry dedusting of the coal gas. The results of a 2-year successful operation will be described in this report.
