Reaction of Cp{sub 3}La.THF with Li(C{sub 6}H{sub 3}[CH{sub 2}NMe{sub 2}]C{sub 2}-2,6) in benzene gave the first crystallographically characterized lanthanum aryl complex ({eta}{sup 5}-C{sub 5}H{sub 5}){sub 2}La(C{sub 6}H{sub 3}[CH{sub 2}NMe{sub 2}]C{sub 2}- 2,6), in which the bis(ortho)-chelating aryldiamine ligand is bound in a pseudofacial `Cp-like` fashion. 18 refs., 3 figs., 2 tabs.
