Title: Crystal and molecular structure of 2,2’-(quinoxaline-2,3-diyl)dipyridinium dinitrate (H{sub 2}L)(NO{sub 3}){sub 2}

Abstract

The crystal structure of 2,2’-(quinoxaline-2,3-diyl)dipyridinium dinitrate (H{sub 2}L)(NO{sub 3}){sub 2} is studied by X-ray diffraction (T = 150 K, R1 = 0.0467). The H{sub 2}L{sup 2+} cation is located on the twofold rotation axis and connected with two NO{sub 3}{sup −} anions by strong N–H···O hydrogen bonds. Planar quinoxaline fragments of cations form stacks with the interplanar spacing of 3.308 Å. The structure of the diprotonated H{sub 2}L{sup 2+} cation is compared with those of the monoprotonated H{sub 2}L{sup 2+} cation and neutral L molecule.

  • The Pt complex C/sub 20/H/sub 30/P/sub 2/I/sub 2/Pt crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with a = 15.286 A, b = 9.709 A, c = 17.036 A, ..beta.. = 107.49/sup 0/, d/sub calcd/ = 2.15 g/cm/sup 3/ for Z = 4. X-ray diffraction intensity data were collected by an automated diffractometer using graphite-monochromated Mo K..cap alpha.. radiation. For 1575 reflections with F/sup 2/ > 3sigma(F/sup 2/), R/sub 1/ = 0.035 and R/sub 2/ = 0.044. The six-coordinate Pt atom is at the center of a distorted octahedron; the six neighbors of Pt are two phosphorus atoms at 2.418 (3)more » A, two iodine atoms at 2.641 (1) A, and two carbon atoms from the butanediyl ligand at 2.15 (1) A.   • A new organic nitrate with the formula [C{sub 12}H{sub 14}N{sub 2}O{sub 2}S](NO{sub 3}){sub 2}, has been prepared and analyzed by X-ray diffraction. This compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic system: a = 16.771 (3), b = 13.884(2), c = 13.884(2) A, V = 3232.7(7)A{sup 3}, Z = 8, space group Pna2{sub 1}. Crystal structure can be described as a succession of organic and inorganic layers parallel to b, c plane. H-bonds between the different species play an important role in the three-dimensional network cohesion.
  • The title compound (2-nitro-ethene-1,1-diyl)-bis-(4-isopropylbenzyl)sulfane) (5), was synthesised using a two step process. The structure of the product (5) was established by UV, FT-IR, {sup 1}H NMR, {sup 13}C NMR, C,H,N analysis, LC-MS and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The single crystal of the title compound (5) was crystallized in Monoclinic with the space group of P21/c. The crystal exhibit the following unit cell parameters a = 12.8165(18), b = 6.1878(6), c = 27.082(4) Å, β = 90.705(17)°, V = 2147.6(5) A{sup 3}, Z = 4, D{sub x} = 1.242 Mg/m{sup 3} and the molecular formula of C{sub 22}H{sub 27}N{sub 1}O{submore » 2}S{sub 2} was found. The final R value was 0.0776. The crystal structure is stabilized by an interesting intramolecular push and pull five membered electrocyclic interaction between the O1–N1–C2–C1–S1- and via the intermolecular H-bonding interaction between C2–H2···O2.« less
  • Treatment of the labile cluster 1,2-Os{sub 3}(CO){sub 10}(MeCN){sub 2} (1) with the diphosphine ligand 2,3-bis(diphenylphosphino)quinoxaline (dppq) at room temperature affords 1,2-Os{sub 3}(CO){sub 10}(dppq) (2b) as the kinetic product of ligand substitution in 84% yield. 2b isomerizes to the thermodynamically more stable dppq-chelated cluster 1,1-Os{sub 3}(CO){sub 10}(dppq) (2c) as the sole observable product under CO at temperatures below 358 K. The kinetics for the conversion of 2b {yields} 2c have been investigated by NMR spectroscopy in CDCl{sub 3} over the temperature range 323-353 K, and the reaction was found to exhibit a rate law that is first order in 2b. Themore » calculated activation parameters [{Delta}H{sup {ne}} = 25.4(4) kcal/mol; {Delta}S{sup {ne}} = -3(1) eu] support an intramolecular isomerization scenario, one that involves the migration of phosphine and CO groups about the cluster polyhedron. The disposition of the dppq ligand in the isomeric Os{sub 3}(CO){sub 10}(dppq) clusters has been established by X-ray crystallography and {sup 31}P NMR spectroscopy. Photolysis of 2c at 366 nm leads to CO loss and ortho metalation of one of the aryl groups on the Ph{sub 2}P moiety to furnish the hydride cluster HOs{sub 3}(CO){sub 9}[{mu}-PhP({eta}{sup 1}-C{sub 6}H{sub 4})(Ph{sub 2}P)quinoxaline] (3). The isomerization behavior exhibited by 2b follows that of related diphosphine-substituted Os{sub 3} clusters prepared by us.« less
  • The crystal structure of bis(trimethylphosphine oxide) cobalt(II) dinitrate was determined using three-dimensional x-ray-diffraction data. Although magnetic and spectroscopic data had suggested tetrahedrally coordinated Co, it is found that the Co is six-coordinated with a very irregular arrangement of ligand atoms, possessing no strict symmetry elements whatever and oniy one quasi or approximate one, a two-fold axis. Other results reported are: the P-O- Co groups are bent ( approximates 133 deg , approximates 139 deg ); the P--O bond is longer than in the free (CH/sub 3/)/sub 3/PO molecule; and the nitrate ions are bidentate but little distorted from their inherentmore » D/sub 3h/ symmetry.
