Title: On the possibility of a new passively Q-switched laser operation mode with periodic wavelength switching

The possibility of cw-pumped passively Q-switched laser operation has been examined theoretically. Also, we have proposed laser operation mode in which the output wavelength automatically switches between two values without any changes in cavity parameters. Using numerical simulation and an Er:YAG laser with a Co:ZnSe passive Q-switch as an example, we have found parameters that ensure such operation mode. (lasers)
