Title: Relativistic description of pair production of doubly heavy baryons in e{sup +}e{sup −} annihilation

Abstract

Relativistic corrections in the pair production of S-wave doubly heavy diquarks in electron-positron annihilation were calculated on the basis of perturbative QCD and the quark model. The relativistic corrections to the wave functions for quark bound states were taken into account with the aid of the Breit potential in QCD. Relativistic effects change substantially the nonrelativistic cross sections for pair diquark production. The yield of pairs of (ccq) doubly heavy baryons at B factories was estimated.

  • On the basis of the perturbative QCD and the relativistic quark model we investigate the relativistic and bound state effects in the production processes of a pair of S-wave doubly heavy mesons consisting of b and c quarks. Relativistic factors in the production amplitude connected with the relative motion of heavy quarks and the transformation law of the bound state wave function to the reference frame of the moving pseudoscalar P- and vector V-mesons are taken into account. Relativistic corrections of the second order in the heavy quark relative momentum and bound state corrections proportional to the quark binding energiesmore » in the doubly heavy mesons are calculated in the production rates. We obtain an increase of the cross section for the reaction e{sup +}+e{sup -}{yields}J/{psi}+{eta}{sub c} due to the considered effects by a factor 2 divide 2.5 in the range of the center-of-mass energy {radical}(s)=6 divide 12 GeV.« less
  • The supersymmetric [ital O]([alpha][ital m][sub [ital t]][sup 2]/[ital m][sub [ital W]][sup 2]) corrections to [ital t[bar t]] and [ital b[bar b]] production in [ital e][sup +][ital e][sup [minus]] annihilation are calculated in the minimal supersymmetric model. We consider the polarization of the electron beam and present the analytic expression for the renormalized differential cross section in terms of the well-known notation of Feynman integrals. We find that the corrections to the total cross section and the left-right asymmetry can both reach a few percent for favorable parameter values, but for the forward-backward asymmetry the correction is negligibly small ([lt]1%).
  • We present O({alpha}{sup 2}{sub s}) corrections to the cross section for e{sup +}e{sup {minus}}{r_arrow}{gamma}{sup *}{r_arrow}Q {bar Q} close to threshold. We assume that the energy of the reaction is such that both the perturbative expansion in the strong coupling constant {alpha}{sub s} and expansion in the velocity {beta} of the heavy quarks can be used. We obtain terms O({alpha}{sup 2}{sub s}/{beta}{sup 2},{alpha}{sup 2}{sub s}/{beta},{alpha}{sup 2}{sub s}) in the relative correction. We demonstrate how an expansion of Feynman diagrams in the threshold region is constructed.   • Heavy-particle pair production in e/sup +/e/sup -/ annihilation is studied taking into account both photon and Z/sup 0/ exchanges. Universal formulas (neglecting the vector constant of the weak neutral leptonic current) are obtained for the angular distributions of secondary particles created in the decay of one of the heavy particles; these formulas are independent of the features of the decay. Specific decays of a heavy lepton of a standard type L/sup -/..--> pi../sup -/..nu../sub L/, rho/sup -/..nu../sub L/, e/sup -/nu-bar/sub e/..nu../sub L/ are studied. It is shown that the analysis of the angular distributions of the light products of heavy-particlemore » decays gives important information on the mechanisms producing new particles in e/sup +/e/sup -/ annihilation.« less
  • The process of e/sup +/e/sup -/ annihilation to a pair of quarks for which the semiweak decay channels Q..-->..Wq are open is discussed. The total cross section of e/sup +/e/sup -/ annihilation to a pair of such quarks near threshold is obtained. This cross section is a calculable function of the quark mass and width and the coupling constant ..cap alpha../sub s/.
