Title: A novel polythreading Ag(I) coordination polymer with blue photoluminescence

Abstract

One new compound, [Ag(p-bix)]{sub 3}[Ag(Hbtc){sub 2}]·2H{sub 2}O (H{sub 3}btc=1,2,4-benzenetricarboxylate, p-bix=1,4-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)-benzene), has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, PXRD, luminescent analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray structural analysis revealed that 0-D unit [Ag(Hbtc){sub 2}]{sup 3−} and two kinds of 1-D linear chain [Ag(p-bix)]{sub ∞}{sup +}, can be found within the crystal structure. The combination of 0-D [Ag(Hbtc){sub 2}]{sup 3−} unit and 1-D undulated chain [Ag1(p{sub 1}-bix)]{sub ∞}{sup +} through weak Ag–O bond gave rise to 2-D anionic supramolecular doublelayer. Then the grids of the 2-D layer are threaded by 1-D linear cationic chain [Ag2(p{sub 2}-bix)]{sub ∞}{sup +} to generate entangled 3-D architecture with unusual poly(pseudo-rotaxane)-type arrangements. Luminescent properties of the title complex were also studied in this paper. - Graphical abstract: Novel 3D polythreading supramolecular architecture was constructed, in which 1D linear cationic chains [Ag(p{sub 2}-bix)]{sub ∞}{sup +} threaded into the grid of weak Ag–O bonded anionic 2D sheet. Highlights: ► Novel 1D{sup +}+2D{sup −}→3D polythreading coordination complex was reported. ► Diverse conformations of p-bix result in different 1D [Ag(p-bix)]{sub ∞}{sup +} chains. ► The title complex displayed blue photoluminescence at room temperature.

  • In this work, we report a photoinduced phase transition, light-induced phase collapse, using rubidium manganese hexacyanoferrate, Rb{sup I}{sub 0.43}Mn{sup II}[Fe{sup III}(CN){sub 6}]{sub 0.81}{center_dot}3H{sub 2}O, which does not exhibit a phase transition upon changing the temperature. However, when this material is irradiated with blue light at temperature around 100-200 K, the Mn{sup II}-Fe{sup III} phase collapses and the valence isomer Mn{sup III}-Fe{sup II} phase appears. The Mn{sup II}-Fe{sup III} phase is perfectly recovered as the temperature increased. Theoretical analysis suggests that the initial Mn{sup II}-Fe{sup III} phase is a thermodynamically metastable phase, trapped at a local free-energy minimum, while the photogeneratedmore » Mn{sup III}-Fe{sup II} phase is the true thermodynamically stable phase below 230 K.« less
  • Nano/micro-sized coordination polymer La(1,3,5-BTC)(H{sub 2}O){sub 6} with controllable morphologies have been successfully prepared on a large scale via a simple solution phase method at room temperature. By rationally adjusting the synthetic parameters such as concentration, molar ratio of reactants, surfactant, and solvent, the La(1,3,5-BTC)(H{sub 2}O){sub 6} with 3D flowerlike, wheatearlike, spherical, sheaflike, taillike, bundlelike hierarchical architectures, and 1D nanorods can be selectively prepared. More interestingly, the photoluminescence color of codoped Eu{sup 3+} and Tb{sup 3+} lanthanum 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate phosphors can be easily tuned from red, orange, yellow, green-yellow to green by changing co-doping concentration of activator ions, making the material hasmore » potential applications in building minioptoelectronic devices, biomedicine, and color display fields. - Graphical abstract: La(1,3,5-BTC)(H{sub 2}O){sub 6} with 3D flowerlike, wheatearlike, spherical, sheaflike, taillike, bundlelike architectures, and 1D nanorods were selectively prepared; color-tunable photoluminescence from red to green was also realized by co-doping Eu{sup 3+} and Tb{sup 3+}.« less
  • Three novel coordination polymers [M(chdc)(imi)] {sub n} (chdc=1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic dianion, imi=imidazole, M=Ni 1, Co 2 and Zn 3) have been synthesized by solvothermal technique and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The trans-chdc have been partially transformed into cis-chdc and the cis-chdc have been separated from the mixture of cis- and trans-chdc in the synthetic reactions of the three compounds. The three compounds exhibit similar one dimension chain-like architecture constructed by their M(II) dimers interconnected via double strands of cis-chdc-bridge. M(II) atom of the dimer exhibits a square-pyramidal geometry and interaction happens within two metal centers. Both compoundsmore » 1 and 2 do not exhibit emission spectra whereas compound 3 shows intense photoluminescence property at room temperature. - Graphical abstract: Isomer transformation and separation in three novel coordination polymers which exhibit similar one dimension chain-like architecture constructed by their metal(II) dimers interconnected via double strands of cis- cyclohexanedicarboxylic bridge.« less
  • The pseudo three-dimensional coordination polymer [Zn(4,4{prime}-bipy)(H{sub 2}O)(SO{sub 4})]{center_dot}0.5H{sub 2}O (1) was synthesized by the ethanothermal reaction of 4,4{prime}-bipyridine with ZnSO{sub 4}{center_dot}7H{sub 2}O in the molar ratio of 1:1 in a sealed tube at 120 C. The compound was characterized by FT-IR, diffuse reflectance UV/vis, X-ray powder diffraction, and single crystal X-ray analysis. • Anionic coordination polymers of divalent first-row transition elements are promising components of multifunctional molecular materials in which electronic conduction and magnetism can coexist. We report that a tetraphenylphosphonium salt containing a copper(II) dicyanamide anion has a novel pseudo-two-dimensional anionic structure and may provide a suitable electrolyte for the electrocrystallization of charge transfer salts.
