Models with universal extra dimensions (in which all Standard Model fields propagate in the extra dimensions) allow for non-vanishing operators at the orbifold fixed-points which in the past have barely been considered in phenomenological studies of UED models. We show how these operators modify the Kaluza-Klein wave functions, mass spectra, and couplings of UED models. In particular, we demonstrate that apart from the well-studied UED dark matter candidate B{sup (1)}(the Kaluza-Klein excitation of the hypercharge gauge boson), the Kaluza-Klein excitation of the neutral SU(2) gauge boson, W{sup 3(1)}, can be made the lightest Kaluza-Klein particle, and that it represents a viable dark matter candidate. As an application we calculate the neutrino flux from dark matter annihilation in the sun for B{sup (1)} and W{sup 3(1)} dark matter and determine the constraints that can be placed on the UED parameter space from current IceCube data. We also determine the regions of UED parameter space that can be probed by IceCube/DeepCore in the near future and compare them to the prospects for future direct detection experiments. These proceedings are based on Refs.[1, 2].
