A modular array named MUST, based on Silicon strip technology has been built and will be devoted to the measurement of recoiling light particles in direct reactions induced by radioactive beams. The detector is described and the performances illustrated with preliminary results from a (p,p{sup '}) scattering experiment recently performed with a secondary {sup 20}O beam at GANIL.
