We measured the penetration depth of the heat wave in a laser plasma generated by 150fs pulses. The heat wave penetrates only layers of small thickness ({approx_equal}300Aa) at intensities of a few 10{sup 17} W/cm{sup 2}. This is not explained by classical heat transport, even with a flux limited heat transport (f=0.08). Possible mechanisms are discussed.
