High Pressure X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy on Zn1-xMnxO (x=0.25 and x=0.05) at the Mn K Edge
Abstract
X-ray absorption measurements have been performed on Zn1-xMnxO (x=.25 and x=.05) at the Mn K edge under pressure. Mn is in substitution of Zn whatever the composition or the structure. A phase transformation from wurtzite to rocksalt is observed close to 8 GPa for both compositions. The local compressibility around the Mn atom is similar to the bulk one, in the wurtzite and in the rocksalt phases. The transition is reversible for x=0.05 but irreversible for x=0.25.

X-ray-absorption near-edge spectroscopy and circular magnetic x-ray dichroism at the Mn K edge of magnetoresistive manganites
A thorough study of Mn K-edge x-ray-absorption near-edge spectroscopy (XANES) on several manganites has been performed. The spectra of La{sub 1{minus}x}Ca{sub x}MnO{sub 3} have a similar shape for the whole series. The chemical shift for intermediate compositions lies between the two end members of the series showing an intermediate oxidation state of the Mn atom. The analysis of the spectra indicates that the Mn atom does not fluctuate between 3+ and 4+ states. We have also collected XANES spectra of magnetoresistive perovskites (x{approx}0.33) at different temperatures and at different external magnetic fields. Very small differences in the XANES spectrum aremore » -
X-ray absorption spectroscopy studies of the Ni ion of Li(Ni{sub 0.8}Co{sub 0.15}Al{sub 0.05}){sub 0.8}(Ni{sub 0.5}Mn{sub 0.5}){sub 0.2}O{sub 2} with a core–shell structure and LiNi{sub 0.8}Co{sub 0.15}Al{sub 0.05}O{sub 2} as cathode materials
Core–shell materials have attracted a great deal of interest since core–shell particles have superior physical and chemical properties compared to their single-component counterparts. The cathode material Li(Ni{sub 0.8}Co{sub 0.15}Al{sub 0.05}){sub 0.8}(Ni{sub 0.5}Mn{sub 0.5}){sub 0.2}O{sub 2} (LNCANMO) with a core–shell structure was synthesized via a co-precipitation method and investigated as the cathode material for lithium ion batteries. The core–shell particle consisted of LiNi{sub 0.8}Co{sub 0.15}Al{sub 0.05}O{sub 2} (LNCAO) as the core and LiNi{sub 0.5}Mn{sub 0.5}O{sub 2} as the shell. The cycling behavior between 2.8 and 4.3 V at a current of 0.1 C-rate showed a reversible capacity of ∼195 mAh g{supmore » -
Double conical crystal x-ray spectrometer for high resolution ultrafast x-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopy of Al K edge
An x-ray spectrometer devoted to dynamical studies of transient systems using the x-ray absorption fine spectroscopy technique is presented in this article. Using an ultrafast laser-induced x-ray source, this optical device based on a set of two potassium acid phthalate conical crystals allows the extraction of x-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopy structures following the Al absorption K edge. The proposed experimental protocol leads to a measurement of the absorption spectra free from any crystal reflectivity defaults and shot-to-shot x-ray spectral fluctuation. According to the detailed analysis of the experimental results, a spectral resolution of 0.7 eV rms and relative fluctuation lowermore »
