Abstract

The photoproduction of quarkonium in coherent hadron-hadron (pp/pA/AA) interactions for LHC energies is an important tool to investigate the QCD dynamics at high energies. In this paper we estimate the integrated cross section and rapidity distribution for J/{psi} and {upsilon} production using the color glass condensate (CGC) formalism. We predict large rates, implying that the experimental identification could be feasible at the LHC.

In this Rapid Communication we update our predictions for the photoproduction of vector mesons in coherent pp and AA collisions at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and Large Hadron Collider (LHC) energies using the color dipole approach and the Color Glass Condensate formalism. The photonuclear production of vector mesons in ultraperipheral heavy ion collisions is investigated within the collinear approach using different parametrizations for the nuclear gluon distribution. The integrated cross section and the rapidity distribution for the AA{yields}V AA (V=J/{psi}, {upsilon}) process are computed for energies of the BNL Relativisic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). A comparison with the recent PHENIX data on coherent production of J/{psi} mesons is also presented. We demonstrate that the study of the exclusive quarkonium photoproduction can be used to constrain the nuclear effects in the gluon distribution.

Diffractive photoproduction of heavy quarks in hadronic collisions

In this article we study the diffractive photoproduction of heavy quarks in hadronic (pp/pA/AA) interactions for Tevatron and LHC energies. The integrated cross section and rapidity distribution for the process h{sub 1}h{sub 2}{yields}h{sub 1}h{sub 2}QQ (h{sub i}=p, A and Q=c, b) are estimated using the color glass condensate (CGC) formalism. Our results indicate that this production channel has larger cross sections than the competing reactions of double diffractive production and coherent AA reactions initiated by two-photon collisions.

We investigate the photoproduction of {rho} mesons in ultraperipheral heavy ion collisions at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) energies in the dipole approach and within two phenomenological models based on the color glass condensate (CGC) formalism. Coherent photon-hadron interactions in pA collisions: Small-x physics after HERA

In this paper we study the photoproduction of heavy quarks and vector mesons in the coherent proton-nucleus (pA) interactions for RHIC and LHC energies and analyze if these processes can be used to determine the QCD dynamics at high energies. The integrated cross section and rapidity distribution are estimated using the color glass condensate (CGC) formalism. A comparison with the linear dynamics predictions is also presented. Our results indicate that the nonlinear dynamics can be proven in those reactions, which are well suited for studing saturation effects.
