General class of braneworld wormholes
Abstract
The brane cosmology scenario is based on the idea that the Universe is a 3brane embedded in a fivedimensional bulk. In this work, a general class of braneworld wormholes is explored with R{ne}0, where R is the four dimensional Ricci scalar, and specific solutions are further analyzed. A fundamental ingredient of traversable wormholes is the violation of the null energy condition (NEC). However, it is the effective total stressenergy tensor that violates the latter, and in this work, the stressenergy tensor confined on the brane, threading the wormhole, is imposed to satisfy the NEC. It is also shown that in addition to the local highenergy bulk effects, nonlocal corrections from the Weyl curvature in the bulk may induce a NEC violating signature on the brane. Thus, braneworld gravity seems to provide a natural scenario for the existence of traversable wormholes.

Recently, traversable wormhole geometries were constructed in the context of f(R) gravity. The latter is equivalent to a BransDicke theory with a coupling parameter {omega}=0, which is apparently excluded from the narrow interval, 3/2<{omega}<4/3, extensively considered in the literature of static wormhole solutions in vacuum BransDicke theory. Wormholes in spacetime and their use for interstellar travel: A tool for teaching general relativity
Rapid interstellar travel by means of spacetime wormholes is described in a way that is useful for teaching elementary general relativity. The description touches base with Carl Sagan's novel Contact, which, unlike most science fiction novels, treats such travel in a manner that accords with the best 1986 knowledge of the laws of physics. Some general aspects of thinshell wormholes with cylindrical symmetry
In this article we study a general class of nonrotating thinshell wormholes with cylindrical symmetry. We consider two physically sound definitions of the flareout condition and we show that the less restrictive one allows for the construction of wormholes with positive energy density at the throat. We also analyze the mechanical stability of these objects under perturbations preserving the symmetry, proving that previous results are particular cases of a general property. We present examples of wormholes corresponding to EinsteinMaxwell spacetimes. 
Thinshell wormholes in ddimensional general relativity: Solutions, properties, and stability
We construct thinshell electrically charged wormholes in ddimensional general relativity with a cosmological constant. The wormholes constructed can have different throat geometries, namely, spherical, planar, and hyperbolic. Unlike the spherical geometry, the planar and hyperbolic geometries allow for different topologies and in addition can be interpreted as higherdimensional domain walls or branes connecting two universes. In the construction we use the cutandpaste procedure by joining together two identical vacuum spacetime solutions. Properties such as the null energy condition and geodesics are studied. Analytical general solutions for static wormholes in f ( R , T ) gravity
Originally proposed as a tool for teaching the general theory of relativity, wormholes are today approached in many different ways and are seeing as an efficient alternative for interstellar and time travel. Attempts to achieve observational signatures of wormholes have been growing as the subject has become more and more popular.
