Higherdimensional AdS waves and pp waves with conformally related sources
Abstract
AdS waves and ppwaves can only be supported by pure radiation fields, for which the only nonvanishing component of the energymomentum tensor is the energy density along the retarded time. We show that the nonminimal coupling of selfgravitating scalar fields to the higherdimensional versions of these exact gravitational waves can be done consistently. In both cases, the resulting pure radiation constraints completely fix the scalar field dependence and the form of the allowed selfinteractions. More significantly, we establish that the two sets of pure radiation constraints are conformally related for any nonminimal coupling, in spite of the fact that the involved gravitational fields are not necessarily related. In this correspondence, the potential supporting the AdS waves emerges from the selfinteraction associated to the ppwaves and a selfdual condition naturally satisfied by the ppwave scalar fields.

In this paper we write down the equation for a scalar conformally coupled field simultaneously for de Sitter (dS), antide Sitter (AdS), and Minkowski spacetimes in d dimensions. The curvature dependence appears in a very simple way through a conformal factor. As a consequence the process of curvature free limit, including wave functions limit and twopoints functions, turns out to be a straightforward issue. We determine a set of modes, that we call de Sitter plane waves, which become ordinary plane waves when the curvature vanishes.

Higher dimensional KerrAdS black holes and the AdS/CFT correspondence
Using the counterterm subtraction technique we calculate the stressenergy tensor, action, and other physical quantities for KerrAdS black holes in various dimensions. For KerrAdS{sub 5} black holes with both rotation parameters nonzero, we demonstrate that the stressenergy tensor, in the zero mass parameter limit, is equal to the stress tensor of the weakly coupled four dimensional dual field theory. As a result, the total energy of the general KerrAdS{sub 5} black hole at zero mass parameter exactly matches the Casimir energy of the dual field theory. Higherdimensional black holes with a conformally invariant Maxwell source
We consider an action for an Abelian gauge field for which the density is given by a power of the Maxwell Lagrangian. In d spacetime dimensions this action is shown to enjoy conformal invariance if the power is chosen as d/4. We take advantage of this conformal invariance to derive black hole solutions electrically charged with a purely radial electric field. Since we are considering a power of the Maxwell density, the black hole solutions exist only for dimensions which are multiples of four. pp waves in AdS gauged supergravities and supernumerary supersymmetry
Purely gravitational pp waves in AdS backgrounds are described by the generalized Kaigorodov metrics, and they generically preserve (1/4) of the maximum supersymmetry allowed by the AdS spacetimes. We obtain (1/2) supersymmetric purely gravitational ppwave solutions, in which the Kaigorodov component is set to zero. We construct pp waves in AdS gauged supergravities supported by a vector field. We find that the solutions in D=4 and D=5 can then preserve (1/2) of the supersymmetry. Like those in ungauged supergravities, the supernumerary supersymmetry imposes additional constraints on the harmonic function associated with the pp waves. Nonasymptotically AdS/dS solutions and their higher dimensional origins
We look for and analyze in some details some exact solutions of EinsteinMaxwelldilaton gravity with one or two Liouvilletype dilaton potential(s) in an arbitrary dimension. Such a theory could be obtained by dimensionally reducing EinsteinMaxwell theory with a cosmological constant to a lower dimension. These (neutral/magnetic/electric charged) solutions can have a (two) black hole horizon(s), cosmological horizon, or a naked singularity. Black hole horizon or cosmological horizon of these solutions can be a hypersurface of positive, zero or negative constant curvature. These exact solutions are neither asymptotically flat, nor asymptotically AdS/dS. But some of them can be uplifted to amore »
