Title: Supersymmetric QCD corrections to single top quark production at hadron colliders

Abstract

We present the calculations of the supersymmetric QCD corrections to the total cross sections for single top production at the Fermilab Tevatron and the CERN Large Hadron Collider in the minimal supersymmetric standard model. Our results show that, for the s-channel and t-channel, the supersymmetric QCD corrections are at most about 1%, but for the associated production process pp{yields}tW, the supersymmetric QCD corrections increase the total cross sections significantly, which can reach about 6% for most values of the parameters. Thus, the supersymmetric QCD corrections should be taken into consideration in future high precision experimental analyses for top physics.

  • We present the calculations of the complete next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD effects on the single top productions induced by model-independent tqg flavor-changing neutral-current couplings at hadron colliders. Our results show that, for the tcg coupling, the NLO QCD corrections can enhance the total cross sections by about 60% and 30%, and for the tug coupling by about 50% and 20% at the Tevatron and LHC, respectively, which means that the NLO corrections can increase the experimental sensitivity to the flavor-changing neutral-current couplings by about 10%-30%. Moreover, the NLO corrections reduce the dependence of the total cross sections on the renormalizationmore » or factorization scale significantly, which lead to increased confidence on the theoretical predictions. Besides, we also evaluate the NLO corrections to several important kinematic distributions, and find that for most of them the NLO corrections are almost the same and do not change the shape of the distributions.« less
  • We calculate the O({alpha}{sub ew}m{sub t(b)}{sup 2}/m{sub W}{sup 2}) and O({alpha}{sub ew}m{sub t(b)}{sup 4}/m{sub W}{sup 4}) supersymmetric electroweak corrections to the cross section for charged Higgs boson production in association with a top quark at the Fermilab Tevatron and the CERN large hadron collider (LHC). These corrections arise from the quantum effects which are induced by potentially large Yukawa couplings from the Higgs sector and the chargino-top-quark- (bottom-quark-) bottom-squark (top-squark) couplings, neutralino-top-quark- (bottom-quark-) top-squark (bottom-squark) couplings and charged Higgs-boson-top-squark-bottom-squark couplings. They can decrease or increase the cross section depending on tan {beta} but are not very sensitive to the massmore » of the charged Higgs boson for high tan {beta}. At low tan {beta}(=2) the corrections decrease the total cross sections significantly, exceeding -12% for m{sub H{sup {+-}} below 300 GeV at both the Tevatron and the LHC, but for m{sub H{sup {+-}}}>300 GeV the corrections become very small at the LHC. For high tan {beta}(=10,30) these corrections can decrease or increase the total cross sections, and the magnitude of the corrections are at most a few percent at both the Tevatron and the LHC. • We calculated the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to the cross sections for direct top quark productions induced by model-independent flavor-changing neutral current couplings at hadron colliders. The NLO results increase the experimental sensitivity to the anomalous couplings. Our results show that the NLO QCD corrections enhance the leading order (LO) total cross sections at the Tevatron Run 2 about 60% for both {kappa}{sub tc}{sup g} and {kappa}{sub tu}{sup g} couplings, and enhance the LO total cross sections at the LHC about 40% for {kappa}{sub tc}{sup g} couplings and 50% for {kappa}{sub tu}{sup g} couplings, respectively. Moreover, the NLO QCDmore » corrections vastly reduce the dependence of the total cross sections on the renormalization or factorization scale, which leads to increased confidence in predictions based on these results.« less
  • We compute QCD corrections to the production of a tt pair in association with a hard photon at the Tevatron and the LHC. This process allows a direct measurement of the top quark electromagnetic couplings that, at the moment, are only loosely constrained. We include top quark decays, treating them in the narrow width approximation, and retain spin correlations of final-state particles. Photon radiation off top quark decay products is included in our calculation and yields a significant contribution to the cross section. We study next-to-leading-order QCD corrections to the pp{yields}tt{gamma} process at the Tevatron for the selection criteria usedmore » in a recent measurement by the CDF collaboration. We also discuss the impact of QCD corrections to the pp{yields}tt{gamma} process on the measurement of the top quark electric charge at the 14 TeV LHC.« less
  • We evaluate the supersymmetric QCD corrections to single top quark production via q{bar q}{sup {prime}}{r_arrow}t{bar b} at the Fermilab Tevatron in the minimal supersymmetric model. We find that within the allowed range of squark and gluino masses the supersymmetric QCD corrections can enhance the cross section by a few percent. The combined effects of SUSY QCD, SUSY EW, and the Yukawa couplings can exceed 10{percent} for the smallest allowed tan{beta}({approx_equal}0.25) but are only a few percent for tan{beta}{gt}1. {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}
