Title: Weak hadronic decays of charmed mesons emitting pseudoscalar and axial-vector mesons

Abstract

In this paper, we investigate phenomenologically several weak decays of charmed mesons emitting a pseudoscalar meson and an axial-vector meson. Decay amplitudes are obtained using the factorization scheme in the spectator quark model. Branching ratios for the Cabibbo angle-favored, Cabibbo angle-suppressed, and Cabibbo angle-doubly-suppressed decays are obtained and compared with available experimental results.

  • We investigate the weak nonleptonic decays of {lambda}{sub c}{sup +}, {xi}{sub c}{sup +}, and {xi}{sub c}{sup 0} into the octet baryons (J{sup P}=1/2{sup +}) and axial-vector mesons (J{sup P}=1{sup +}) employing the factorization scheme for W-emission diagrams and the pole model for W-exchange contributions. Determining the baryon-baryon transition form factors in the nonrelativistic quark model and incorporating the constraints of heavy quark symmetry, we predict their branching ratios and asymmetry parameters.
  • The strong coupling constants, g{sub D{sub sDK{sub 0}{sup *}, g{sub B{sub sBK{sub 0}{sup *}, g{sub D{sub s}{sup *}{sub DK}}}}}}, g{sub B{sub s}{sup *}{sub BK}}, g{sub D{sub s}{sup *}{sub DK{sub 1}}} and g{sub B{sub s}{sup *}{sub BK{sub 1}}}, where K{sub 0}{sup *}, K and K{sub 1} are scalar, pseudoscalar, and axial-vector kaon mesons, respectively, are calculated in the framework of three-point QCD sum rules. In particular, the correlation functions of the considered vertices when both B(D) and K{sub 0}{sup *}(K)(K{sub 1}) mesons are off shell are evaluated. In the case of K{sub 1}, which is either K{sub 1}(1270) or K{sub 1}(1400),more » the mixing between these two states are also taken into account. A comparison of the obtained result with the existing prediction on g{sub D{sub s}{sup *}{sub DK}} as the only coupling constant among the considered vertices, previously calculated in the literature, is also made.« less
  • We consider weak decays of the charmed mesons D and F. We develop a new scheme for calculating the amplitudes of two-particle nonleptonic decays based on QCD sum rules. We discuss the basic aspects of the scheme, which gives practically model-independent predictions for the partial widths of the decays.
  • In this work, we evaluate the contributions of the hadronic loops to the amplitudes of J/{psi}{yields}PV where P and V denote light pseudoscalar and vector mesons, respectively. By fitting data of two well measured channels of J/{psi}{yields}PV, we obtain the contribution from the pure OZI process to the amplitude which is expressed by a phenomenological quantity |G{sub S}{sup PV}|, and a parameter {alpha} existing in the calculations of the contribution of hadronic loops. In terms of {alpha} and |G{sub S}{sup PV}|, we calculate the branching ratios of other channels and get results which are reasonably consistent with data. Our resultsmore » show that the contributions from the hadronic loops are of the same order of magnitude as that from the OZI processes and the interference between the two contributions are destructive. The picture can be applied to study other channels such as PP or VV of decays of J/{psi}.« less
  • A sample of 3.79{times}10{sup 6} {psi}(2S) events is used to study the decays of charmonium to axial-vector plus pseudoscalar mesons. The branching fraction for the decay {psi}(2S){r_arrow}b{sup {plus_minus}}{sub 1} (1235){pi}{sup {minus_plus}} agrees with expectations based on scaling the corresponding J/{psi} branching fraction. Flavor-SU(3)-violating K{sub 1}(1270) -K{sub 1}(1400) asymmetries with opposite character for {psi}(2S) and J/{psi} decays are observed. This contrasting behavior cannot be accommodated by adjustments of the singlet-triplet mixing angle. {copyright} {ital 1999} {ital The American Physical Society}
