Title: Dalitz analysis of three-body charmless B{sup 0}{yields}K{sup 0}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -} decay

Abstract

We report results of a Dalitz plot analysis of the three-body charmless B{sup 0}{yields}K{sup 0}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -} decay. The analysis is performed with a data sample that contains 388x10{sup 6} BB pairs collected near the {upsilon}(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e{sup +}e{sup -} collider. Measurements of branching fractions for the quasi-two-body decays B{sup 0}{yields}{rho}(770){sup 0}K{sup 0}, B{sup 0}{yields}f{sub 0}(980)K{sup 0}, B{sup 0}{yields}K*(892){sup +}{pi}{sup -}, B{sup 0}{yields}K*(1430){sup +}{pi}{sup -}, and upper limits on several other quasi-two-body decay modes are reported.

  • We report results on the Dalitz analysis of three-body charmless B{sup +}{yields}K{sup +}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -} and B{sup +}{yields}K{sup +}K{sup +}K{sup -} decays based on a 140 fb{sup -1} data sample collected with the Belle detector. Measurements of branching fractions for quasi-two-body decays to scalar-pseudoscalar states: B{sup +}{yields}f{sub 0}(980)K{sup +}, B{sup +}{yields}K{sub 0}*(1430){sup 0}{pi}{sup +}, and to vector-pseudoscalar states: B{sup +}{yields}K*(892){sup 0}{pi}{sup +}, B{sup +}{yields}{rho}{sup 0}K{sup +}, B{sup +}{yields}{phi}K{sup +} are presented. Upper limits on decays to some pseudoscalar-tensor final states are reported. We also report the measurement of the B{sup +}{yields}{chi}{sub c0}K{sup +} branching fraction in two {chi}{sub c0} decaysmore » channels: {chi}{sub c0}{yields}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -} and {chi}{sub c0}{yields}K{sup +}K{sup -}.« less
  • We report results on a Dalitz analysis of three-body charmless B{sup {+-}}{yields}K{sup {+-}}{pi}{sup {+-}}{pi}{sup {+-}} decay including searches for direct CP violation. We report the first observation of the decay B{sup {+-}}{yields}f{sub 2}(1270)K{sup {+-}} with a statistical significance above 6{sigma}. We also observe first evidence for large direct CP violation in the B{sup {+-}}{yields}{rho}(770){sup 0}K{sup {+-}} channel. The results are obtained with a data sample that contains 386x10{sup 6} BB pairs collected at the {upsilon}(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e{sup +}e{sup -} collider.
  • We present constraints on the angle {gamma} of the unitarity triangle with a Dalitz analysis of neutral D decays to K{sub S}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -} from the processes B{sup 0}{yields}D{sup 0}K*{sup 0} (B{sup 0}{yields}D{sup 0}K*{sup 0}) and B{sup 0}{yields}D{sup 0}K*{sup 0} (B{sup 0}{yields}D{sup 0}K*{sup 0}) with K*{sup 0}{yields}K{sup +}{pi}{sup -} (K*{sup 0}{yields}K{sup -}{pi}{sup +}). Using a sample of 371x10{sup 6} BB pairs collected with the BABAR detector at PEP-II, we constrain the angle {gamma} as a function of r{sub S}, the magnitude of the average ratio between b{yields}u and b{yields}c amplitudes.
  • We report an analysis of charmless hadronic decays of charged B mesons to the final state K{sup +}{pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}, using a data sample of (470.9{+-}2.8)x10{sup 6} BB events collected with the BABAR detector at the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance. We observe an excess of signal events, with a significance above 10 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties, and measure the branching fraction and CP asymmetry to be B(B{sup +}{yields}K{sup +}{pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0})=(16.2{+-}1.2{+-}1.5)x10{sup -6} and A{sub CP}(B{sup +}{yields}K{sup +}{pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0})=-0.06{+-}0.06{+-}0.04, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Additionally, we study the contributions of the B{sup +}{yields}K{sup *}(892){sup +}{pi}{sup 0}, B{sup +}{yields}f{submore » 0}(980)K{sup +}, and B{sup +}{yields}{chi}{sub c0}K{sup +} quasi-two-body decays. We report the world's best measurements of the branching fraction and CP asymmetry of the B{sup +}{yields}K{sup +}{pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0} and B{sup +}{yields}K{sup *}(892){sup +}{pi}{sup 0} channels.« less
  • We report a Dalitz-plot analysis of the charmless hadronic decays of neutral B mesons to K{sup {+-}}{pi}{sup {+-}}{pi}{sup 0}. With a sample of (231.8{+-}2.6)x10{sup 6}{upsilon}(4S){yields}BB decays collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC, we measure the magnitudes and phases of the intermediate resonant and nonresonant amplitudes for B{sup 0} and B{sup 0} decays and determine the corresponding CP-averaged branching fractions and charge asymmetries. The inclusive branching fraction and CP-violating charge asymmetry are measured to be B(B{sup 0}{yields}K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{pi}{sup 0})=(35.7{sub -1.5}{sup +2.6}{+-}2.2)x10{sup -6} and A{sub CP}=-0.030{sub -0.051}{sup +0.045}{+-}0.055 where the first errors are statisticalmore » and the second systematic. We observe the decay B{sup 0}{yields}K*{sup 0}(892){pi}{sup 0} with the branching fraction B(B{sup 0}{yields}K*{sup 0}(892){pi}{sup 0})=(3.6{sub -0.8}{sup +0.7}{+-}0.4)x10{sup -6}. This measurement differs from zero by 5.6 standard deviations (including the systematic uncertainties). The selected sample also contains B{sup 0}{yields}D{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0} decays where D{sup 0}{yields}K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}, and we measure B(B{sup 0}{yields}D{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0})=(2.93{+-}0.17{+-}0.18)x10{sup -4}.« less
