Stringy wave function for an S{sup 3} cosmology
Abstract
Using the recent observations of the relation between the HartleHawking wave function and the topological string partition function, we propose a wave function for scalar metric fluctuations on S{sup 3} embedded in a CalabiYau manifold. This problem maps to a study of noncritical bosonic string propagating on a circle at the selfdual radius. This can be viewed as a stringy toy model for a quantum cosmology.

Distortedwave calculation of the cross sections and correlation parameters for e/sup + /He(1 /sup 1/S, 2 /sup 1//sup S/. >. 2 /sup 1/P, 3 /sup 1/S, and 3 /sup 1/P) collisions
A distortedwave Bornapproximation method has been used to obtain various results for the electron and positronimpact excitations of the helium atom initially from its ground (1 /sup 1/S) and excited metastable (2 /sup 1/S) states to 2 /sup 1/P, 3 /sup 1/S, and 3 /sup 1/P states. The results are obtained for differential and integrated cross sections. For the 2 /sup 1/P and 3 /sup 1/P excitations, coincidence parameters lambda and chi as well as the circular polarization P/sub 3/ are also reported. The ν _{3} and 2ν _{3} bands of ^{32}S ^{16}O _{3}, ^{32}S ^{18}O _{3}, ^{34}S ^{16}O _{3}, and ^{34}S ^{18}O _{3}
The fifth of a series of publications on the high resolution rotationvibration spectra of sulfur trioxide reports the results of a systematic study of the v3(é) and 2v3(A1'+E') infrared bands of the four symmetric top isotopomers ^{32}S ^{16}O _{3}, ^{34}S ^{16}O _{3}, ^{32}S ^{18}O _{3}, and ^{34}S ^{18}O _{3}. An internal coupling between the l = 0 and l = +2 levels of the 2v3 (A1'+E') states was observed. This small perturbation results in a level crossing between Kl = 9 and 12, in consequence of which the band origins of the A1', l=0 “ghost” states could be determined tomore » 
Compact and accurate integraltransform wave functions. II. The 2 /sup 1/S, 2 /sup 3/S, 2 /sup 1/P, and 2 /sup 3/P states of the heliumlike ions from He through Mg/sup 10 +/
The method of the preceding paper is used to construct compact and accurate integraltransform wave functions for the four lowest excited states of the heliumlike ions. Convergence studies of the energy and various expectation values are presented for the 2 /sup 1/S and 2 /sup 3/S states of the helium atom. Parallelotope parameters and energies are given for the 2 /sup 1/S, 2 /sup 3/S, 2 /sup 1/P, and 2 /sup 3/P states of the ions from He through Mg/sup 10 +/. A brief discussion of the prospects for extending the method to manyelectron systems is included. (AIP)
