Title: Experimental study of {psi}2S decays to K{sup +}K{sup -}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{pi}{sup 0} final states

Abstract

K{sup +}K{sup -}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{pi}{sup 0} final states are studied using a sample of 14x10{sup 6} {psi}(2S) decays collected with the Beijing Spectrometer (BESII) at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider. The branching fractions of {psi}(2S) decays to K{sup +}K{sup -}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{pi}{sup 0}, {omega}K{sup +}K{sup -}, {omega}f{sub 0}(1710), K*(892){sup 0}K{sup -}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup 0}+c.c., K*(892){sup +}K{sup -}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}+c.c., K*(892){sup +}K{sup -}{rho}{sup 0}+c.c. and K*(892){sup 0}K{sup -}{rho}{sup +}+c.c. are determined. The first two agree with previous measurements, and the last five are first measurements.

  • We report the observations of the decays B{sup +}{r_arrow}{psi}(2S)K{sup +} and B{sup 0}{r_arrow}{psi}(2S)K{sup {asterisk}}(892){sup 0} in p{bar p} collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.8 TeV using a 110thinsppb{sup {minus}1} data sample recorded by the Collider Detector at Fermilab. We also reconstruct the decays B{sup +}{r_arrow}J/{psi}K{sup +} and B{sup 0}{r_arrow}J/{psi}K{sup {asterisk}}(892){sup 0} and measure the six ratios of branching fractions of these four decays. The relative branching-fraction results are shown to be consistent with phenomenological factorization calculations of hadronic B-meson decays. We use the world-average branching fraction B(B{sup +}{r_arrow}J/{psi}K{sup +}) to derive B{bold (}B{sup +}{r_arrow}{psi}(2S)K{sup +}{bold )}=(0.56{plus_minus}0.08{plus_minus}0.10){times}10{sup {minus}3}, B{bold (}B{supmore » 0}{r_arrow}{psi}(2S)K{sup {asterisk}}(892){sup 0}{bold )}=(0.92{plus_minus}0.20{plus_minus}0.16){times}10{sup {minus}3}, and B{bold (}B{sup 0}{r_arrow}J/{psi}K{sup {asterisk}}(892){sup 0}{bold )}=(1.78{plus_minus}0.14{plus_minus}0.29){times}10{sup {minus}3}, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. {copyright} {ital 1998} {ital The American Physical Society}« less

  • Cross sections and form factors for e{sup +}e{sup -}{yields}{omega}{pi}{sup 0}, {rho}{eta}, and {rho}{eta}{sup '} at center of mass energies of 3.650, 3.686, and 3.773 GeV are measured using data samples collected with the BESII detector at the BEPC. Also, the branching fractions of {psi}(2S){yields}{omega}{pi}{sup 0}, {rho}{eta}, and {rho}{eta}{sup '} are determined to be (1.87{sub -0.62}{sup +0.68}{+-}0.28)x10{sup -5} (1.78{sub -0.62}{sup +0.67}{+-}0.17)x10{sup -5}, and (1.87{sub -1.11}{sup +1.64}{+-}0.33)x10{sup -5}, respectively.
  • We present results of a search for the X(3872) in B{sup 0}{yields}X(3872)K{sub S}{sup 0},X(3872){yields}J/{psi}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}, improved measurements of B{sup -}{yields}X(3872)K{sup -}, and a study of the J/{psi}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -} mass region above the X(3872). We use 232x10{sup 6} BB pairs collected at the {upsilon}(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e{sup +}e{sup -} asymmetric-energy storage rings. The results include the 90% confidence interval 1.34x10{sup -6}<B(B{sup 0}{yields}X(3872)K{sup 0},X{yields}J/{psi}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -})<10.3x10{sup -6} and the branching fraction B(B{sup -}{yields}X(3872)K{sup -},X{yields}J/{psi}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -})=(10.1{+-}2.5{+-}1.0)x10{sup -6}. We observe a (2.7{+-}1.3{+-}0.2)MeV/c{sup 2} mass difference of the X(3872) produced in the two decay modes. Furthermore,more » we search for the Y(4260) in B decays and set the 95% C.L. upper limit B(B{sup -}{yields}Y(4260)K{sup -},Y(4260){yields}J/{psi}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -})<2.9x10{sup -5}.« less
