Title: Observation of a Near-Threshold Enhancement in the {omega}{phi} Mass Spectrum from the Doubly OZI-Suppressed Decay J/{psi}{yields}{gamma}{omega}{phi}

Abstract

An enhancement near threshold is observed in the {omega}{phi} invariant mass spectrum from the doubly Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka-suppressed decays of J/{psi}{yields}{gamma}{omega}{phi}, based on a sample of 5.8x10{sup 7} J/{psi} events collected with the BESII detector. A partial wave analysis shows that this enhancement favors J{sup P}=0{sup +}, and its mass and width are M=1812{sub -26}{sup +19}(stat){+-}18(syst) MeV/c{sup 2} and {gamma}=105{+-}20(stat){+-}28(syst) MeV/c{sup 2}. The product branching fraction is determined to be B(J/{psi}{yields}{gamma}X)B(X{yields}{omega}{phi})=[2.61{+-}0.27(stat){+-}0.65(syst)]x= 10{sup -4}.

  • We report the observation of a near-threshold enhancement in the {omega}J/{psi} invariant mass distribution for exclusive B{yields}K{omega}J/{psi} decays. The results are obtained from a 253 fb{sup -1} data sample that contains 275x10{sup 6} BB pairs that were collected near the {upsilon}(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e{sup +}e{sup -} collider. The statistical significance of the {omega}J/{psi} mass enhancement is estimated to be greater than 8{sigma}.

  • We investigate the possibility of producing the enhancement observed in J/{psi}{yields}{gamma}X with X{yields}{omega}{phi} at BES by intermediate meson rescatterings through f{sub 0}(1710){yields}PP{yields}{omega}{phi}, f{sub 0}(1710){yields}VV{yields}{omega}{phi}, and f{sub 0}(1710){yields}SS{yields}{omega}{phi}. We find that intermediate meson rescatterings can produce some enhancement near the {omega}{phi} threshold. Implications about the property of this enhancement are discussed.
  • We observe a narrow enhancement near 2m{sub p} in the invariant mass spectrum of p{bar p} pairs from radiative J/{psi} {yields} {gamma}p{bar p} decays. No similar structure is seen in J/{psi} {yields} {pi}{sup 0} p{bar p} decays. The results are based on an analysis of a 58 million event sample of J/{psi} decays accumulated with the BESII detector at the Beijing electron-positron collider. The enhancement can be fit with either an S- or P-wave Breit Wigner resonance function. In the case of the S-wave fit, the peak mass is below 2m{sup p} at M = 1859{sub -10}{sup +3} (stat){sub -25}{supmore » +5} (sys) MeV/c{sup 2} and the total width is {Lambda} < 30 MeV/c{sup 2} at the 90 percent confidence level. These mass and width values are not consistent with the properties of any known particle.« less
  • Evidence is reported for a narrow structure near the J/{psi}{phi} threshold in exclusive B{sup +} {yields} J/{psi}{phi}K{sup +} decays produced in {bar p}p collisions at {radical}s = 1.96 TeV. A signal of 14 {+-} 5 events, with statistical significance in excess of 3.8 standard deviations, is observed in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.7 fb{sup -1}, collected by the CDF II detector. The mass and natural width of the structure are measured to be 4143.0 {+-} 2.9(stat) {+-} 1.2(syst) MeV/c{sup 2} and 11.7{sub -5.0}{sup +8.3}(stat) {+-} 3.7(syst) MeV/c{sup 2}.
