Title: Using SU(3) relations to bound the CP asymmetries in B{yields}KKK decays

Abstract

We consider three-body {delta}s=1 B{yields}f decays with f=KKK. The deviations of -{eta}{sub f}S{sub f} from S{sub {psi}}{sub K{sub S}} and of C{sub f} from zero can be bounded using the approximate SU(3) flavor symmetry of the strong interactions and branching ratios of various {delta}s=0 modes. We present the most promising SU(3) amplitude relations that can be used to obtain these bounds.

  • The presence of additional strong phase from power corrections and other chirally enhanced terms makes it more difficult to predict direct CP asymmetries in two-body charmless B decays. In this talk, I would like to report on a recent work on QCD Factorisation and Power Corrections in Charmless B Decays. Using the measured branching ratios for B {yields} PV, it is shown that power corrections in charmless B decays are probably large, at least for penguin dominated PV channels. Since the tree-penguin interference responsible for direct CP asymmetries in two-body charmless B decays are related by CKM factors and SU(3)more » symmetry, we find that, if power corrections other than the chirally enhanced power corrections and annihilation topology were negligible, QCD Factorisation would predict the direct CP asymmetry of B {yields} {pi}+{pi}- to be about 3 times larger than that of B {yields} {pi}{+-}K{+-}, with opposite sign, in agreement with the latest measurement from Belle. Similar relations are also given for direct CP asymmetries in B {yields} PV.« less
  • We present improved measurements of CP-violation parameters in B{sup 0}{yields}{phi}K{sup 0}, {eta}{sup '}K{sup 0}, K{sub S}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0} decays based on a sample of 535x10{sup 6} BB pairs collected at the {upsilon}(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e{sup +}e{sup -} collider. We obtain sin2{phi}{sub 1}{sup eff}=+0.64{+-}0.10(stat){+-}0.04(syst) for B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{sup '}K{sup 0}, +0.50{+-}0.21(stat){+-}0.06(syst) for B{sup 0}{yields}{phi}K{sup 0}, and +0.30{+-}0.32(stat){+-}0.08(syst) for B{sup 0}{yields}K{sub S}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0} decays. We have observed CP violation in the B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{sup '}K{sup 0} decay with a significance of 5.6 standard deviations.   • Based on a sample of 227x10{sup 6} BB pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC, we measure the branching fraction B(B{sup 0}{yields}{pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0})=(1.17{+-}0.32{+-}0.10)x10{sup -6}, and the asymmetry C{sub {pi}}{sub {sup 0}}{sub {pi}}{sub {sup 0}}=-0.12{+-}0.56{+-}0.06. The B{sup 0}{yields}{pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0} signal has a significance of 5.0{sigma}. We also measure B(B{sup +}{yields}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup 0})=(5.8{+-}0.6{+-}0.4)x10{sup -6}, B(B{sup +}{yields}K{sup +}{pi}{sup 0})=(12.0{+-}0.7{+-}0.6)x10{sup -6}, and the charge asymmetries A{sub {pi}}{sub {sup +}}{sub {pi}}{sub {sup 0}}=-0.01{+-}0.10{+-}0.02 and A{sub K{sup +}}{sub {pi}}{sub {sup 0}}=0.06{+-}0.06{+-}0.01. Using isospin relations, we find an upper bound on the angle difference vertical bar {alpha}-{alpha}{sub eff}more » vertical bar of 35 deg. at the 90% C.L.« less
  • We report the first reconstruction in hadron collisions of the suppressed decays B{sup -}{yields}D({yields}K{sup +}{pi}{sup -})K{sup -} and B{sup -}{yields}D({yields}K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}){pi}{sup -}, sensitive to the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa phase {gamma}, using data from 7 fb{sup -1} of integrated luminosity collected by the CDF II detector at the Tevatron collider. We reconstruct a signal for the B{sup -}{yields}D({yields}K{sup +}{pi}{sup -})K{sup -} suppressed mode with a significance of 3.2 standard deviations, and measure the ratios of the suppressed to favored branching fractions R(K)=[22.0{+-}8.6(stat){+-}2.6(syst)]x10{sup -3}, R{sup +}(K)=[42.6{+-}13.7(stat){+-}2.8(syst)]x10{sup -3}, R{sup -}(K)=[3.8{+-}10.3(stat){+-}2.7(syst)]x10{sup -3} as well as the direct CP-violating asymmetry A(K)=-0.82{+-}0.44(stat){+-}0.09(syst) of this mode.
