Title: Models for homogeneous deep hydrodesulfurization. Intramolecular CO substitution by the sulfur in [({eta}{sup 6}-2-methylbenzothiophene)Mn(CO){sub 3}]{sup +} and [({eta}{sup 6}-dibenzothiophene)Mn(CO){sub 3}]{sup +} after regiospecific insertion of platinum into a C-S bond

Abstract

Coordination of Mn(CO){sub 3}{sup +} to a carbocyclic ring of sterically congested thiophenes activates a C-S bond to regiospecific insertion of platinum. The resulting metallathiacycles contain a nucleophilic sulfur atom that undergoes spontaneous intramolecular CO substitution at the manganese center.
