Title: Al-, Nb-, and Ta-based perfluoroaryloxide anions as cocatalysts for metallocene-mediated Ziegler-Natta olefin polymerization

Abstract

Perfluoroaryloxide salts of the formula Ph{sub 3}C{sup +}-Al(OC{sub 6}F{sub 5}){sub 4}{sup {minus}} and Ph{sub 3}C{sup +}M(OC{sub 6}F{sub 5}){sub 6}{sup {minus}} (M = Nb, Ta) have been synthesized and characterized. In combination with sterically encumbered zirconocene dimethyl complexes, they yield active ethylene polymerization catalysts.
