The authors present a detailed comparison of three distinctly different LINAC designs and relate their performance, reliability, ease of use and cost to their useability as a booster for {approximately}MeV/amu electrostatic accelerators. They illustrate the performance of the LINAC`s on the following examples: (1)The Resonant Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ) at Sandia and GSI/Germany, (2) the super conducting split ring resonator at Kansas State University and ATLAS at Argonne National Laboratory and (3) the IH structure at Munich/Germany and GSI/Germany.
