The enthalpies of dissolution of CH{sub 3}CN and (CH{sub 3}){sub 2}SO in water-methanol mixtures and of CH{sub 3}CN and propylene carbonate in water-2-propanol or water-tert-butanol mixtures were determined at 298.15 K over the whole range of compositions of the mixed solvents and at concentrations of dissolved compounds lower than 0.1 mole per kg of solvent. The dependences of the enthalpies of transfer on the electron-donor-electron acceptor capacity of the solvents and the solutes and on their molecular size are discussed.
