Uranium enrichment activitites: The SILVA program

In the general frame of a long term R & D uranium enrichment approach, the French laser isotope separation program (SILVA) is presented including fundamentals of the process, an overview of its organization and activities: the main areas of basic research, subsystems assessment, enrichment demonstrations and plant design are described. The general schedule leading to a future commercial plant is outlined.
