Title: Ensuring the viability of the nuclear generation option

Abstract

This talk is a summary of the strategic plan for improved economic performance of nuclear power plants. The overall goal is to assist utilities in operating safe, reliable, and efficient nuclear power plants that are competitive on an individual and industry basis and in achieving performance that validates plant license renewal as a safe, reliable, and economic alternative to other sources of generation. Specific topics discussed are as follows: actions to improve operational cost effectiveness; actions to improve industry interactions with external entities; and actions to improve regulations and regulatory processes. 4 figs., 1 tab.
