A micromechanical formulation is proposed to predict yielding of elastoplastic ductile matrix containing many randomly dispersed spherical voids. The inclusion phase is void and the matrix material is elastoplastic. In order to accommodate statistical aspects of inclusion micro-geometry, voids are assumed to be perfectly randomly dispersed in the ductile matrix. Interaction effects due to randomly dispersed voids embedded in the elastoplastic matrix are considered. Furthermore, ensemble-average and volume-average operators are performed to render meaningful statistical and spatially averaged quantities. The matrix material is elastic or plastic, depending on local stress and deformation, and obeys general plastic flow rule and hardening law. Comparison between our theoretical predictions and other approximate methods is also presented.
