Longitudinal structure function F{sub L} as function of F{sub 2} and dF{sub 2}/d ln Q{sup 2} at small x
Abstract
A formula for extracting the longitudinal deep inelastic structure function F{sub L} from the transverse structure function F{sub 2} and its derivative dF{sub 2}/d ln Q{sup 2} at small x in the leading order of perturbation theory is derived. A detailed analysis is given for new data of the H1 group from HERA. The values of F{sub L} and the deep inelastic scattering structure function ratio R are found for 10{sup {minus}3}{le}x{le}2{times}10{sup {minus}2} and Q{sup 2}=20 GeV{sup 2}. 17 refs., 2 figs.
